Trader Joe’s Organic Cold Brew Mocha Nut Latte Review
Trader Joe’s is a smaller grocery store that sells many of their products under their brand name. They like to sell a lot of organic goods as well. They started this cold brew coffee in 2013 with this original cold brew concentrate. According to their website it takes half a pound of 100% Arabica beans that are coarsely ground to make 32 ounces of the cold brew. They steep the coffee beans for 12-24 hours. Again not sure why there is a range. The beans are coarsely ground to bring out the flavor and then filtered after being cold brew. There isn’t much info about this product on Trader Joe’s website.
When you first open the bottle you get a light cinnamon mixed with a nutty smell, it smells very Fall. There is no coffee smelling coming from the bottle. Upon the very first thing you taste as you drink it is a very light mocha taste that just lightly touches your taste buds. You also feel a lot of sentiments coming from the cashews and almonds. So when your drinking it it is very gritty. The second part of the coffee you get a milky taste coming from the almond and cashew milk. The very end of the tasting you get a full nutty taste. It is a mixture of the nuts mixed together. There is zero coffee flavor in this, there isn’t even a hint of it. There is no body either in the drink because there is no coffee flavor. The price is $4.49 for a 12 oz bottle which is $0.38 per ounce.
Well this is really a disappoint considering how good the other Trader Joe’s Cold Brew Coffees were. There is not really much to write as far as a cold brew standpoint as there is no coffee flavor. There is also very little caffeine in this as well. It is as if they bottled up almond milk in ice after the ice has melted. One could drink it if you like a gritty slightly mocha almond/cashew milk drink. Other than that avoid this drink as it not only has no coffee flavor it also is expensive.
