KonaRed Cold Brew Coffee Hawaiian Vanilla Review

KonaRed Cold Brew Coffee Hawaiian Vanilla Review

KonaRed is a Hawaiian company that makes a couple of different things. They, of course, make their cold brew coffee but also they make 100% Kona coffee beans, Antioxidant Juices and Coffee Fruit Powder. I can’t find out when they actually started. They roast their coffee beans in-house. The cold brew that they make is not pure 100% Kona coffee but a blend of the Kona plus Colombian coffee beans. What is interesting about KonaRed is that it does something a little bit different in that it infuses 100% Hawaiian Coffeeberry, which is the fruit of the coffee bean, into the cold brew. Coffeeberry benefits according to KonaRed is that these berries actually have 10 times the amount of antioxidants of blueberries. The cold brew that they make is cold brewed for 12 hours.

When you crack open the bottle you get this equal mix of the coffee and vanilla fragrance. When you first bring it in the first taste you get is the strong bitterness from the vanilla bean. It also has a slight alcoholic taste, the same thing you would taste if you were to taste a couple drops of vanilla extract. There is no sour taste at all in the coffee. Then as you get to the middle part of the coffee you get a deeper bitter flavor. Then in the final stages of the drink, you get the sweetness from the sugar. Then after the sugar starts to fade you get the coffee and vanilla flavor that comes through. There is a mix of a light roast flavor and the nuttiness of the vanilla. There is a shallow to average body, it only lasts in your mouth for a very short amount of time. The price of this bottle is $4.99 for 12 ounces, which is $0.42 per ounce. (On their website it is a little cheaper which is 3.99 per bottle but you have to buy 6 bottles at least which comes out to $3.99 for 12 ounces, which is $0.33 per ounce)

This is the second KonaRed Cold Brew Coffee I have tried. I have mixed feelings about this coffee. On the one hand, I can drink this vanilla coffee without feeling sick. On the other hand, it has such a bitter taste at the beginning from the vanilla extract. Overall if you can get over the bitterness of the beginning you are rewarded with a well flavored cold brew coffee at the end. I would recommend this for vanilla lovers.
