Java Pura Cold Brew Coffee Review
Java Pura Coffee Roasters started as a partnership between Richard Colt and Fielding Cocke in 2008. They started the company in Houston and their mission was to provide the city with the fresh locally roasted coffee. They are vertically integrated in that they source the beans, roast them and also brew their own coffee. They list a lot of large companies that buy from them such as Microsoft and Louis Vuitton. They mostly sell their roast on their website, but they have some select locations here in Houston that carry their cold brew.
The fragrance coming off the has a nice coffee smell with a hint of caramel sweetness flavor coming from the bottle. When you first take a drink of the cold brew you get a very deep bitterness taste at the very beginning. There is also a nice undertone of the berry flavor as well. Then as it goes to the second part of the mouth you taste a little bit of the acidity. Then at the very end of the tasting, you get the nice strong coffee flavor at the end. The underlying flavor of the berry comes back and complements the coffee flavor by giving a little bit of sweetness. It also has a slight chocolate taste as well. The body is deep and robust lasting in your mouth for a long time. The price is $3.99 for a 12 oz bottle which is $0.33 per ounce.
Java Pura Cold Brew Coffee at the beginning is similar to how a beer taste, which isn’t a bad thing. It has that bitter profile at the beginning close to how a stout would taste. After that, you get to the great flavorful punch of the cold brew on the back in. There are many underlying flavors that enhance the coffee flavor at the end. This isn’t a cold brew for everyone, but if you like a bold taste or want your coffee to remind you of drinking beer this would be the one.
